Davis Coastal Consultants has been helping shape New Zealand’s coastlines since 2002, specialising in coastal engineering and coastal management.
The coast is one of the most complex environments to work in. Projects must respond to dynamic coastal processes, evolving regulatory frameworks, environmental considerations, and the values of local communities and iwi. We understand these complexities and bring the expertise needed to navigate them.

As a small, specialist consultancy, we are intentionally agile. Clients work directly with experienced coastal engineers who stay closely involved throughout every stage of a project. This allows us to respond quickly, collaborate effectively, and develop practical solutions that move projects forward.

Our work spans the design, consenting, and construction of coastal infrastructure including jetties, seawalls, boardwalks, and shoreline protection works. We combine deep knowledge of New Zealand’s coastal environments with practical engineering insight to create solutions that are resilient, cost-effective, and buildable.

Our Leadership & Approach
At Davis Coastal Consultants, leadership isn't about sitting behind a desk - it’s about being on the ground and in the water. Sam Scott-Kelly and Craig Davis lead an agile team of six dedicated specialists who share a deep-rooted passion for New Zealand’s coastlines.

By operating as a tight-knit team, we provide our clients with direct access to senior expertise and practical advice at every stage of a project. This agile structure allows Sam and Craig to stay embedded in the work, ensuring that complex coastal challenges are transformed into clear, workable solutions through genuine collaboration.
